It is my opinion that hiring a moving company from where your destination is to your advantage. If you need service after your move, you can go to their office if needed, but if your contact is back where you came from – all you have is the phone.
There are internet moving services that are available as well. In this situation you hire your own muscle to load/pack, or do those chores yourself, and sometimes you will need to rent ramps as these trucks are set up for dock loading. (I have people to unload or load you here, $80/hour for 2 men – there is a 3 hour minimum). You can save about half of the cost by doing part of the work yourself. You can call Dave at 1-800-860-3077, he uses 53’ trucks from Air Ride.
One of our favorite moving and storing companies is www.pods.com or 866-229-4120. You can get a quote right on their website. They drop off the PODS, you fill them, then they are moved directly to your destination or stored in a climate controlled warehouse. Best of all – only your items will be stored in your POD.
You can also compare PODS to Mobile Mini moving and storage: http://mobilemini.com/ or 866-344-4092. The real advantage to either of the services is simple – you only load and unload once.
